This Juneteenth, we’re opening our doors for an evening that centers Black joy—on the page and in our community.

Joy is Resistance is an intimate after-hours gathering where we’ll hold space for storytelling, reflection, and music that celebrates freedom—not just as history, but as daily practice. Expect thoughtful conversation, a welcoming community, and featured readings from Black writers who center joy, liberation, and legacy in their work.

This evening is meant to nourish and inspire—whether you’re listening, sharing, or simply being.

We’re also proud to support the Little Black Book Drive
A community effort to get more children’s books by Black authors into local classrooms and homes. How you can help: Purchase a children’s book by a Black author during the event. Every book makes a difference—and helps the next generation see themselves in the stories they read.
