Green Gables remains a living history museum situated on 1.49 acres of green space on the Indian River Lagoon and serves as a community outreach center for you to enjoy. Green Gables at Historic Riverview Village, Inc. has reached a milestone with the acquisition of Green Gables, the home and property. After protecting Green Gables from demolition, the next stage begins the rehabilitation of this landmark over time, transforming her to her former grandeur. The 127-year-old historic home remains “Melbourne’s Bridge to the Past”. The Wells family vision and generosity brought many firsts to the area for Melbourne. They gifted the area with Wells Park, the first auditorium, the first library, establishing the first high school, and many more community projects, all of which have been enjoyed by several generations. We invite you to come and visit Green Gables and learn more about the architecture, the family, and our plans for the future of Green Gables.
