DESCRIPTION:In 1962\, President Kennedy proclaimed May 15 as National Police Officers’ Memorial Day and the calendar week in which May 15 falls as National Police Week. Established by a joint resolution of Congress in 1962\, National Police Week pays special recognition to those law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others. National Police Week is a collaborative effort of many organizations dedicated to honoring America’s law enforcement community.\nMark your calendar for Saturday\, May 9th\, when Green Gables will participate in National Police Memorial week hosting “Community Heroes Day”. Melbourne Police Department will be on the grounds with demonstrations and surprises for kids and adults as well. Explore a Melbourne Fire Department fire truck and interact with the SWAT Team. Meet the heroes that put their lives on the line every day for our safety. Free Admission. House Tours available for a $10 donation.
