Who We Are & What We Do
Melbourne Main Street is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that works to build public and private partnerships to revitalize Historic Downtown Melbourne. An accredited Main Street part of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, our mission is to fuel economic growth by capitalizing on the community’s assets and paying particular attention to the physical, cultural, and social identity of Downtown Melbourne.
Foster collaboration among Downtown business owners, the City of Melbourne, and community stakeholders.
How do we do this?
- Hold quarterly merchant meetings
- Openly communicate with Downtown stakeholders and community
- Advocate for Downtown partnerships and collaborate with the City of Melbourne
- Community & consensus building to address key areas of Downtown’s development
- Build a supportive network of members invested in the health & growth of Downtown
Showcase the rich cultural and business diversity of Downtown Melbourne through advertising, partnerships with tourism-based organizations, applying for cultural marketing grants, and hosting community-focused events.
How do we do this?
Host a variety of free and ticketed community events such as:
- Downtown Melbourne Botanical Festival
- Summer Sidewalk Sale
- Florida Institute of Technology’s Homecoming Fest
- Downtown Trick or Treat
- Downtown Melbourne Food & Wine Festival
- Candlelight Shopping
- Shop Small Saturday
Use aesthetics as a means for fostering a sense of community well-being and promoting a safe and family friendly community

- Façade Grant Improvement Project
- ‘Light up the Night’ Project
Build a diverse committee of Downtown stakeholders to evaluate and implement long-term strategic revitalization projects to fuel the economic growth in Downtown Melbourne

- Build partnerships to address street-level homelessness
- Use petitions and other means to communicate the interests of the public to the City
- Work with property owners to ensure a healthy and diverse Downtown marketplace
