SUMMARY:Open House at Green Gables
DESCRIPTION:Green Gables’ Queen Ann architecture is just one of a few tangible examples of South Brevard’s history remaining and what we call “Melbourne’s Bridge to the Past”. Green Gables is the 127-year-old historic home of the Wells family\, one of the generous benefactors who played a key role in the development of early Melbourne. Their vision and their generosity gifted the area with Wells Park and the first auditorium\, the first library\, establishing the first high school\, and many more things in the community\, all of which have been enjoyed by several generations. \nWe are still working to keep Green Gables from becoming a distant memory of the past or an archived post. She is still here\, still standing\, and is patiently waiting to be refurbished to her former glory. She is a living history museum and community outreach center. \nWon’t you join us by visiting Green Gables and learning how together we can restore Green Gables and save history. Address: 1501 S. Harbor City Blvd.\, Melbourne\, FL 32901 \nPlease view our 35-minute documentary at https://www.greengables.org with the title\, “Forgotten Enchantress”. \nWatercolor art by Jean Johnson of Melbourne and Viera\, FL

SUMMARY:Cabaret at Melbourne Civic Theatre
DESCRIPTION:In a Berlin nightclub\, as the 1920’s draw to a close\, a garish Master of Ceremonies welcomes the audience and assures them they will forget all their troubles at the Cabaret. With the Emcee’s bawdy songs as wry commentary\, Cabaret explores the dark\, heady\, and tumultuous life of Berlin’s natives and expatriates as Germany slowly yields to the emerging Third Reich. Cliff\, a young American writer who newly arrived in Berlin\, is immediately taken with English singer Sally Bowles. Meanwhile\, Fraulein Schneider\, proprietor of Cliff & Sally’s boarding house\, tentatively begins a romance with Herr Schultz\, a mild-mannered fruit seller who happens to be Jewish. \nThe musical depicts Weimar-era Berlin during this chaotic interwar period as a carnival of debauchery & despair inhabited by people who are unaware of the national catastrophe that awaits them. \nFriday shows are at 8:00 pm\, Saturday & Sunday shows are at 2:00 pm
