Their vision and their generosity gifted the area with Wells Park and the first auditorium\, the first library\, establishing the first high school\, and many more things in the community\, all of which have been enjoyed by several generations. We do not want Green Gables to become a distant memory from the past or an archived post. She is still here\, still standing\, and is patiently waiting to be refurbished to her former glory. She is a living history museum and community outreach center. There are millions of people who love history. Together we can save Green Gables and save history. DESCRIPTION:This is a multihull sailing Regatta hosted at Riverview Park\, Scurrah Landing\, in Downtown Melbourne. We have over 80 sailors participating and sailing. The boats include the International A Cat\, both foiling and classic\, Hobie 16\, Hobie Wave\, Weta and a open class. Bring your power boat or kayak out south of 192 to watch this event. Other viewing options include the from shore at Riverview Park\, Kiwanis Park/Geiger Point and Front Street Park. \nMore about the largest participating classes: \nThe A-Class Catamaran is the fastest single-handed catamaran in production. The class is a development class with two divisions: foiling and classic. In the US\, the foilers and classics race on the same course and are scored by division. A-cats weight 75kg all up\, and rely heavily on cutting-edge materials such as carbon fiber. This keeps the class on the edge of technology and performance. With the development of foils\, A-Class catamarans are able to maintain and exceed speeds of 24 knots both upwind and downwind. The classics are still very fast but are required to keep one hull in the water at all times and use constant curve C boards instead of Z foiling boards that the foilers use (Courtesy of the USACA.info). \n
